About us

Every dog deserves a second chance.

Aluna Tierhilfe e.V. was founded in 2026 from a simple idea: that no dog should be forgotten just because it was born on the wrong side of a border.

We are a registered animal welfare charity from the Rhineland. Our heart beats for the dogs of a partner shelter near Bucharest, run by local animal rescuers. Around 150 dogs live there — some waiting for a home of their own, others staying for good and needing food, warmth and veterinary care every day.

We do two things: we bring adoptable dogs into loving families in Germany — and we make sure the dogs who stay are well cared for. To do this we work project by project, raise donations mainly through Betterplace and pass them on to our partner. We keep careful account of every euro.

What drives us

  • Rescuing dogs: We give forgotten dogs a future — in a new home or in safety at the shelter.
  • Taking responsibility: For us an adoption doesn't end at the front door. We support both person and dog with care.
  • Staying transparent: You can trace where your money goes at any time.

Charitable and not-for-profit

Aluna Tierhilfe e.V. pursues exclusively and directly charitable purposes in the sense of promoting animal welfare. Our entire team works on a voluntary basis.

International animal welfare and the transport of dogs require a permit under Section 11 of the German Animal Welfare Act. Applying for it is part of our founding process and is currently underway.

Our Team

People who do not look away.

Behind Aluna is a small, volunteer-run team united by the conviction that every dog deserves a safe, loving life.
