Salsa is a wonderful dog: good-natured, affectionate, friendly and sociable. He gets along with all other dogs, is good with children and walks very well on a lead. He needs people who will continue his lifelong treatment and have a lot of empathy.

Salsa is a neutered mixed-breed male, born on 17 May 2020, 65 cm tall and weighing approx. 41 kg. He arrived at the shelter on 2 May 2026. He has tested negative for all Mediterranean diseases.

Salsa ended up in a shelter as a puppy together with his siblings. He was then adopted, but his owner did not take care of his ears and his dermatitis and has now brought him back to that shelter. The dogs there live on less than 2 square metres, and he was not treated there either. Salsa shook his head all day long. When his current shelter had space, it took him in and first brought him to a dermatologist.

For years, Salsa suffered from an untreated ear infection, and he is missing some hair. It is not known whether it will grow back. Unfortunately, this has led to a chronic ear infection and dermatitis. The conditions are under control, but he has to be treated with corticosteroids and Apoquel every 2 days for the rest of his life. At the shelter, his ears are cleaned 3 times a week and he is bathed once a week. Thanks to the treatments, he is now doing very well.

Salsa is a wonderful dog, good-natured, affectionate, friendly and sociable. He gets along with all other dogs, big or small, male or female. He is an active dog with a lot of strength and energy. He is good with children, travels well in the car and walks very well on a lead. He has not yet been tested with cats.

Salsa needs people who will continue his treatment and have a lot of empathy, because he suffers from separation anxiety. He does not destroy anything when the people at the shelter have to leave, but he barks and tries to get through the fence. He simply needs time to settle in.
